State of the New Zealand Space Industry
 +

 +
The NZ Space Industry is at its infancy. However, just in less than two years since Rocket Lab successfully launched from the Mahia Peninsula, an increase in interest, activities and opportunities in the aerospace community has began to emerge. The following articles and resources capture the current state of the aerospace industry in New Zealand.

I'm just going to do something with this stuff and you guys can come in and change it in any way you like.
 +

 +

 +

 +
I'll keep the content largely in-tact.
 +

 +

 +

 +
It's going to be an all-nighter for me already.
 +

 +
Sorry, the above comment was for the Space Opportunities section. This one is a listing of what already exist and is happening.
 +

 +
The intent in this section are essentially opportunities they can do, participate or work on that are existing now in the current NZ space ecosystem.
 +

 +
My two cents on this. The listing entries are not Activities, so calling it activities doesn't seem accurate.
 +

 +

 +

 +
The closest to Activities we get is the indented bullets for things like the NZ Space Agency, where there are entries on Permits and Regulations.
 +

 +

 +

 +
Those are roles that the NZ space agency plays.
 +

 +

 +

 +
This page is currently primarily a directory listing. It's mostly organizations.
 +

 +

 +

 +
It is going to be hard to differentiate from the Directory on spacebase.co.
 +

 +

 +

 +
If someone is already here, it's going to be a real tough sell to say "go over there to add to a directory" That's not the least path of resistance, so it won't be followed. They will add here if anywhere.
 +

 +

 +

 +
The best thing I can say about this is that we could rename it to "Important Roles in the NZ Space Ecosystem"
 +

 +

 +

 +
If we differentiate in that manner, we will still primarily have a tiny directory, but we can focus people on "Roles" rather than "Organizations".
 +

 +

 +

 +
But to pass muster as a wiki article in most public wikis, it would have to be much more clearly defined as something other than a directory.
 +

 +

 +

 +
If it's about Activities or Roles or anything other than Organizations - then the taxonomy should be quit different - and the page should be outlined by that taxonomy.

Opportunities sounds like something that a government organization would name a page they weren't sure how to name.
 +

 +

 +

 +
Most of this page is actually much closer to "Activities".
 +

About 2/3 of the listing are activities/events, and the other 1/3 are organizations or job/internship listings.

While there are related degrees in physics, astronomy and mechatronics that are foundations for a career in aerospace, there is currently no existing aerospace engineering degree offered in New Zealand. However, there are several opportunities and programmes offered in country and globally that could be leveraged by any student or enthusiast who wish to enter into this very promising industry.

State of the New Zealand Space Industry

The NZ Space Industry is at its infancy. However, just in less than two years since Rocket Lab successfully launched from the Mahia Peninsula, an increase in interest, activities and opportunities in the aerospace community has began to emerge. The following articles and resources capture the current state of the aerospace industry in New Zealand.

I'm just going to do something with this stuff and you guys can come in and change it in any way you like.

I'll keep the content largely in-tact.

It's going to be an all-nighter for me already.

Sorry, the above comment was for the Space Opportunities section. This one is a listing of what already exist and is happening.

The intent in this section are essentially opportunities they can do, participate or work on that are existing now in the current NZ space ecosystem.

My two cents on this. The listing entries are not Activities, so calling it activities doesn't seem accurate.

The closest to Activities we get is the indented bullets for things like the NZ Space Agency, where there are entries on Permits and Regulations.

Those are roles that the NZ space agency plays.

This page is currently primarily a directory listing. It's mostly organizations.

It is going to be hard to differentiate from the Directory on spacebase.co.

If someone is already here, it's going to be a real tough sell to say "go over there to add to a directory" That's not the least path of resistance, so it won't be followed. They will add here if anywhere.

The best thing I can say about this is that we could rename it to "Important Roles in the NZ Space Ecosystem"

If we differentiate in that manner, we will still primarily have a tiny directory, but we can focus people on "Roles" rather than "Organizations".

But to pass muster as a wiki article in most public wikis, it would have to be much more clearly defined as something other than a directory.

If it's about Activities or Roles or anything other than Organizations - then the taxonomy should be quit different - and the page should be outlined by that taxonomy.

FAQs

I think this also needs some refactoring and the name needs love.

Opportunities sounds like something that a government organization would name a page they weren't sure how to name.

Most of this page is actually much closer to "Activities".

About 2/3 of the listing are activities/events, and the other 1/3 are organizations or job/internship listings.
